A BRIEF HISTORY OF WEREWOLVES
The werewolf creature, also known as a lycanthrope (from the Greek λυκάνθρωπος: λύκος, lukos, “wolf”, and άνθρωπος, anthrōpos, man) for centuries was considered pioneering folklore. Until the late 1800s when the first werewolf was discovered in the upper midwestern region of North America. Contrary to popular myth, the werewolf is not a shape-shifting man beast, but more of a genetic hybrid of the timber-wolf, wolverine and mountainous black bear.
In the mid-20th century, suburban development across North America limited their ecosystem and living habitats. This resulted in werewolves needing to seek new forms of shelter. Unlike squirrels and deer, who in their own ways adapted to this environmental change, werewolves have integrated themselves into the homes of people.
